I want this site to be as fast as possible. When you visit, I want the pages to load in the blink of an eye. To facilitate this, I have decided to avoid all plugins, custom functions, and hacks. What you see here is simply WordPress at its finest — fresh out-of-the-box 100% pure virgin WordPress with absolutely no frills.
Also helping to improve performance, save bandwidth, and reduce loading times, is the use of image sprites throughout the theme design. Wherever possible, background images and other graphical elements have been meticulously stitched together into single images. These image sprites are then called to their various positions and displayed using a carefully employed collection of CSS directives.
These two steps — no plugins and image sprites — help Perishable.biz to load exceedingly fast, despite all of the images, videos and other multimedia content served as content. Further optimization is underway to reduce overall image size through compression, consolidate stylesheets, consolidate JavaScript, and compress as much code as possible. The goal is to create one of the fastest sites on the Net. I’ll keep you updated on the progress.
