Perishable Dot Biz
Welcome to Perishable.biz — the online graphical archives of Jeff Starr. This site is all about organizing, managing and sharing my vast collection of collected graphical works. Since as long as I can remember, I have been collecting visually interesting and creatively inspiring chunks — unusual photos, commercial communique, newspaper graphics, signage, stickers, and anything else that strikes my visual fancy as I navigate my everyday environment.
In addition to sharing my found chunk collection, Perishable.biz also showcases my personal portfolio of artistic works. Since I was old enough to hold a crayon, I have been hard at work expressing myself through various media: drawing with pen and pencil, painting with watercolor and acrylic, and composing digital works of art on the computer. Most of the artwork featured on Perishable.biz will be from my overflowing black-&-white sketch collection, but I will try to throw in some more diverse creations as well.
Of course, I am also quite fond of capturing digital photographs as a form of artistic expression. Rather than taking pictures of cars, I prefer traveling to inspiring locations and shooting abstract, minimalist, and macro images that are generally well-composed and striking in nature. Along with long-time comrade Thane Champie, you will often find me cruising old, broken down factories, surfing ancient landscapes, and haunting old, abandoned houses in continual pursuit of the perfect photographic experience. As many of my thousands of digital photos that I can manage to share, I will do so here at Perishable.biz.
In addition to host of perishable chunks, drawings and photos, you will also find a growing collection of multimedia content, including a variety of audio, video, and even Flash clips. Although time does not permit me to dabble as much as I used to, I truly enjoy the craft of digital media, and love to purge my creative urges with a piping-hot audio mix or even a surrealist video edit. Thanks to the world’s greatest lightbox script, I am able to share my multimedia treats in the same popup slideshow format as I do with all of the other visual content.
